EXIT OF AN ICON ,TRIBUTE AND CELEBRATION OF LIFE OF LATE AMBASSADOR, PROFESSOR GEORGE A OBIOZOR 1942-2022
It is no longer a rumor , the story is true: a hero has bid the earth fare well. On 22nd December 2022 OBIOZORS family was astonished by the unprecedented seizure of breath by their beloved father, a patriot, which has really dawned on us to believe the fate of man that states: today , man lives in pleasure, wealth and pride, tomorrow, poor or life itself denied, today, he lays plans for many years to come, tomorrow, sinks into the silent tomb, today, his food is dressed in dainty forms, tomorrow , he himself a feast to worms. Today , he enjoys the halls built to his taste, tomorrow. in his coffin he is coffined. Today, he has a delusive dream of heaven , tomorrow, he cries too late to be forgiven. Today, he lives in hope as light as air, tomorrow, he dies in anguish and despair.
Professor OBIOZOR’S tribute was a memorable event not only to Ndi igbo but to Nigeria at large, it was graced by highly top class, elder statesmen men, diplomats , elites , reputable business men and women illustrious sons and daughters of Ndi igbo , council of Ndi Ezea across the nation.

The speech presented by president of ohaneze Ndi igbo Lagos chapter chief Sunday Ossai aka:stainless, he described prof OBIOZOR as his blossom friend , a great patriot who used his youthful energy to work tirelessly for the welfare of Ndi igbo. In his words: when the opportunity to contest for the president general of ohaneze Ndi igbo world wide , he saw it as an opportunity to be in the position to deploy his world of his experience for the welfare of Ndi igbo, he grab the opportunity in a manner of a lion in the act of devouring a stubborn goat
Immediately he ascended the leadership throne , he started work immediately but was faced with many challenges and crisis , ranging from credibility, economy and political crisis which in short time, he was able to subdue the crisis within four months, coalating Ndi igbo once again, and become the mouth piece of Ndi igbo , bringing a global consciousness, settling and resolving crisis in every state. When the Lagos state crisis became overwhelming at the risk of of his deteriorating health, he move down to Lagos and establish a war room and used his house as operation base. and he was dashing out correspondent of highest organs like : Lagos state government, oba of Lagos , and political leader of Lagos Asiwaju Amedi tunubu, making them to know that there is a change in the leadership of ohaneze , persuading them to support leadership of ohaneze under chief Ossai.
He didn’t stop there, he established contacts with igbo sons and daughters, who is who in Lagos, including my self . He calls me often and invites me numerous times , in each visit he tries to know the happenings in ohaneze which I will always provided him . Let me shock you : my last visit was exactly before his demise, he tried to know the undistorted happenings in ohaneze , after I told him, he bursts into laughter, shaking me several times, tanking me for making him proud and making ohaneze to be in unity again.
Let me give you my joy: you people may not know that prof OBIOZOR have given his parting gift to Ndi igbo, when he organized a nationalism and nation building in Nigeria history on 10th of November 2022. In his open speech he was full of himself and in his full regalia of intellectual, capsizing every issues, making Nigeria to know the thruth and to respect God and zone presidency to south , that it is the time for Ndi igbo to produce a president come 2023. Arguing and saying that it is politically wise and reasonable, morally, justifiable and defensible ,and patriotically persuasive for every party to zone president to the south east., that this is the only way way Ndi igbo can come in terms with in Nigeria.
As he has gone to great beyond, it is my wish that he meet with great igbo sons who has also gone before him , great igbo sons like : Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Michael okpara, Dr Akanu Ibiam , Chief Odimegwu Ojukwu, Aguiyi Ironsi and the host of others, and tell them that since independence in 1960 , igbos have only reintegrated economically but failed to reintegrate politically, that igbos are still lacking behind in terms of politics. He should let them know that the victory of Nigerian war to unite Nigeria have become a tragedy because no lesson was learnt , all the things that necessitated the war are happening double now , that they should continue praying for igbos where ever they are.
What we can take from the death Prof OBIOZOR, was that he died a happy man having accomplished his dreams by . uniting and instigating love in ohaneze Ndi igbo Lagos state.
I wish ohaneze Ndi igbo can maintain this unity and love bestowed on us, that is the only way to immortalize prof OBIOZOR.
