World Women Organisation Inaugurates It's Nigerian Chapter
Influential women leaders, philanthropists, iconic figures, development advocates, policymakers, and distinguished guests from across the globe gathered at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, for the official inauguration of the World Women Organisation’s Nigerian Chapter.
The Founder and Global President of the World Women Organisation, Chief Mrs. Rachel Akeem-Harumi,reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to empowering women and expanding opportunities for women across Africa.
The event opened with a welcome speech delivered by a distinguished guest, H.E Yan Yuqing who highlighted the importance of establishing a Nigerian chapter and its potential to empower communities nationwide. Her remarks set the tone for a day defined by purpose, unity, and shared ambition.
In a symbolic and unifying moment, all the women in attendance joined hands to sing “We Are the World”, their voices blending into a powerful chorus, a reminder that collaboration remains one of the greatest strengths of women everywhere.
One of the day’s most notable sessions came from the Distinguished Guest Speaker, Pastor Siju Oyemolade who walked to the stage with confidence and delivered a thought-provoking talk titled “How Women Can Finance Their Dreams Without Money.” She explained that every woman needs three pillars to attract the resources necessary to achieve her goals: vision, character, and resilience. Her clear and practical message drew nods and note-taking from attendees across the hall.
The Special Guest of Honour, Her Regal Majesty, Queen Temitope Morenike Enitan- Ogunwusi, added a brief but impactful message on collaboration, emphasizing the theme “How Women Become Richer, Stronger, and Greater When They Collaborate Rather Than Compete.” She encouraged women to build networks, share knowledge, and support one another without rivalry, highlighting partnership as a pathway to greater impact.
The organisation also unveiled its WOW Initiative, a programme designed to accelerate women-led impact projects. The launch was witnessed by eminent personalities and trailblazers, all of whom pledged support for the World Women Organisation’s mission in Nigeria.
Among the distinguished guests, His Excellency Rtr. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation, reaffirmed his support for the organisation’s commitment to empowering women and expanding opportunities across Africa.
While the speeches focused on empowerment, the awards highlighted women already leading the charge. Several outstanding women were honoured for their contributions in leadership, advocacy, and service. They are: HRM Majesty Timitope morenike Enitan- Ogunwusi, Olori Janet afolabi, H.E Yan Yuqing, CMR. Chief Mrs. Agnes. F. Sessi, H.E Dame Pauline Tallen and lots more. The ceremony celebrated achievements across multiple sectors and showcased role models for the next generation of female leaders.
