UNILAG Produces 272 First-Class Graduates at 2025 Convocation Ceremony
The University of Lagos has awarded degrees to 272 first- class graduates during its 56th Convocation Ceremonies for 2025.
At the Convocation held Wednesday, the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. FOlashafe Ogundola, announced that 2,097 students graduated from the Faculties of Engineering, Law, and Management Sciences.
Prof. Ogundola revealed that a total of 16,506 students will receive degrees across all faculties before the 2025 conversation programme.
She explained that the only graduates from Faculties of Engineering, Law, and Management Sciences were formally administered their degrees earlier in the day, while students from Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Pharmacy, Dental Sciences, Health Professions and the Distance Learning Institute would be induted later.
The Vice-Chancellor stated, noting that the Faculty of Engineering, had 613 graduates, 89 were First degree holders, the Faculty of Law produced 321 graduates, including three first-class degrees holders.
The Faculty of Management Sciences graduated 1163 students, with 180 achieving first-class degree honours.
Overall results showed 272 first-class degrees, 1,108 second-class upper, 580 second-class lower, 131 third-class, and six pass degrees.
Prof. Ogunsola also announced that UNILAG would award honorable doctorate degrees to two notable Nigerians in recognition of their contributions to national development.
Mr. Jubril Tinubu will receive an honorary Doctor of Business degree, while former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Kanu Agabi, will be honoured with a Doctor of Law degree.
She thanked members of the university senate, staff, alumni, partners, and other stakeholders for their continued support and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global relevance.
